Thatâs it! thought Jack. Just the other week, he had seen a television program about the Terracotta Army. He knew that nearly 8,000 clay figurines made up the army and were housed in a giant museum. A perfect place to try and lose these guys, he thought.
âIâve never seen the Terracotta Army before,â said Jack. âCan we stop so that I can take a look?â
Fong looked at Wong, surprised at Jackâs interest. But since Fong didnât know Jack had translated their conversation, he thought it was just an honest kidâs strange request.
âYeah, sure,â Fong said. âWe can stop for five minutes so you can see a few clay people.â
Within minutes, theyâd arrived at the complex. The museum building was huge, as was the car park. After pulling in, Wong found a parking place and turned off the engine. Fong got out of the truck and pushed his seat forward to let Jack out.
âNow donât go too far, young man,â said Wong.
âDonât worry. I wonât!â said Jack, strapping on his Book Bag and walking toward the main building.
But as he approached the front doors, something made Jack stop. He had the feeling that heâd forgotten something. He turned toward the truck and spotted Fong reaching into the back seat. He pulled something out and showed it to Wong. When Jack realized what it was, he panicked. It was his Secret Language Decoder.
Not only was he going to get a telling off from the GPF, it also looked like Jack was going to be in trouble with Fong and Wong. At first, the two teenagers didnât know what the strange box was, but as soon as they saw the English words on the screen, they worked it out. Jack could tell they werenât happy.
As Jack watched, Fong turned to face him. When their eyes met, Fong lifted his fists and shook them at Jack. Then the two park assistants started to run in Jackâs direction.
